Visiting the Italianate

I took a trip to check out the Italianate Victorian today. I did love quite a lot about it. It was a relief that the bordello accents were less evident than the listing photos highlighted. The strike against it? It sits on a very busy street. But the yard is partially fenced and easily added to. I felt that the owner made some mistakes with the bathrooms. Flashy but without the quality of materials to carry it off. With exception of the master, their style was not in synch with the era of the home.

But there was also so much to adore. Great curb appeal, lovely Victorian style front garden, original doors, great porch, and oh, those Victorian windows. The inside had tall ceilings and even the smallest room benefited from the light and volume.

And then there was the staircase! All three floors had the same railings. And it is gorgeous.

So I’m enthused and hopeful. Taking my dearest husband to take a look on Sunday. Fingers crossed!
